FORK's Season of Events Round Up !!! A BIG Thank You!!
Over the past few months, FORK has delivered a series of sessions and events aimed at promoting greater public awareness and our commitment to the care and maintenance of the River Kelvin.
We’ve been delighted to see so many old and new faces attending various workshops, gardening sessions, tool repair afternoons, and guided walks, helping FORK become more engaged with the communities spanning the Kelvin and extending across Glasgow.
We've upgraded our hi-vis vests with Rags To Riches Textile Studio for our monthly river clean ups, made the garden at Ha'Penny Bridge House more biodiverse with help from The Conservation Volunteers Scotland and hosted a range of guided walks in collaboration with The Institute of Civil Engineers and The Geological Society of Glasgow. These walks provided us with fascinating insights into the rich histories of the river. Did you know the former delta of the River Kelvin was once larger than both the Clyde and Thames rivers, with banks higher and deeper than the Mississippi? Whilst today, the river is crossed by a series of magnificent Victorian bridges, a testament to the exquisite engineering of the past. We also held a magnificent tool repair workshop with The Repair Cafe and The Friends of Kings Park Glasgow were we soaked, scrubbed, sanded, tightened and oiled garden tools for our 2025 season of planting and tending.
Looking ahead, we’re excited to offer more fun and enriching for the communities along the river, and we’d love to hear any ideas you may have for future activities, events, or opportunities.
